Why does one federal agency pay another (NTIS) for documents?

Federal agencies are also customers of NTIS products and services. The sales to the general public do not subsidize the dissemination of documents to other agencies.

Can I order NTIS products directly from the Web?

Does NTIS offer any free catalogs?

Yes, many! Simply call or write NTIS for a free catalog. A number of our more popular catalogs are also available on our Web site. There, you can view or download the catalogs of our choice.

How do I place an order by phone or get a price quote?

When can I expect to receive my order?

We prepare most of our products as orders are requested. Then the vast majority of regular orders are shipped by express delivery or USPS first class, depending on destination and shipping weight.

May I pick up my order at NTIS?

Yes. Orders may be picked up at the NTIS Bookstore located at 5285 Port Royal Road, Springfield, VA (I-495, Exit 5 West) between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday. Handling fees are waived for orders picked up at the NTIS Bookstore. Get directions to the bookstore.

What does the NTIS National Audiovisual Center do?

The National Audiovisual Center is the central clearinghouse for federally sponsored and produced multimedia products. The collection includes approximately 9,000 active titles covering over 600 subject areas from more than 200 federal agencies. These resources are ideal for businesses, schools, and personal enrichment. We even have documentaries chronicling America's history, including award-winning World War II films from some of Hollywood's most celebrated directors!
