The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a federal government agency whose mission is to protect human health and the environment. It's efforts include: developing and enforcing regulations of environmental laws; researching and setting national standards for a variety of environmental programs; issuing sanctions; providing financial grants to State environmental programs; assessing environmental conditions and identifying, understanding, and solving current and future environmental problems; and advancing educational efforts to develop an environmentally conscious and responsible public.
